Angiogenesis inhibitors

Q-A 1

Q (t) My question is adressed to Dr Avicenne, and concerns products based on shark cartilage. I would like to know if clinical studies have been carried out with such products, related to retinitis and Crohn disease. Do you think that this product could be useful in these diseases treatment (the same person is affected by the two diseases) ?

A (t) As we mentionned in the article published in N°23 of our paper "Sida Tout Va Bien", and in the article appearing on our Internet website <http://www.positifs.org/ (chapter C.14.), shark cartilage may have an interest in some diseases.

Some of its components, alkyls glycerols, would have an action on certain tumors. Another of its components, an angiogenesis inhibitor (small vessels formation appearing excessively and anarchically in some diseases), wich composition is unknown because of the existence of a patent, would have an action on diseases involving an angiogenesis anomaly : Kaposi's Sarcoma (in AIDS), some solid tumors (prostate, uterus, colon), rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, diabetic retinopathy.

Concerning pigmental retinitis and Crohn disease, we have no information of the possible action of shark cartilage. You may contact Mr Thierry Lerond (Nutrilys, 18 av. M. Anthonioz, 01220 Divonne les Bains, France ; Tel : +33 (0)4 50 20 40 22, Fax : +33 (0)4 50 20 77 76).

Concerning Crohn disease, it is an immunologic disease, wich anomaly is close to the rheumatoid arthritis. We can ask if shark cartilage would't have an interest ; but we hadn't time to see if Crohn disease is caracterised by an angiogenesis anomaly, which would be an argument to consider this treatment. Q-A 2

Q (t) I saw at this address <http://www.positifs.org/c/c-14.htm> that Roquinimex would have some effects against Kaposi's Sarcoma. I would like to know more.

The document seems rather old, therefore, I would like to know where is it possible to get it now, and at wich cost. Then I would like to know if the described effects have been proved, and under wich conditions. You can imagine that your interlocutor has AIDS with a Kaposi Sarcoma.

A (t) Indeed we added, less than a year ago, an information on the roquinimex in our article on shark cartilage, on the Internet Positifs website.
Roquinimex (Linomide) is an angiogenesis inhibitor that has been used in a double blind protocole against placebo in an hospital unit in Paris (France).
The first results seemed encouraging on the Kaposi's Sarcoma with, appearently, an action on some immunity biological parameters.
To the last news, this protocole would have been stopped, for unclear reasons. One patient contacted us, saying that his Kaposi's Sarcoma had improved, as well as his biological parameters. But this patient had stop the protocole because of a pericarditis. Considering the obtained results, this patient is sure to have used this medecine and not the placebo (wich seems probable). On the other hand, the protocole responsibles affirm after checking that he actually received the placebo, and that her pericarditis would be due to the HIV (which is not impossible). But we may ask questions, as pericarditis is the only worrying side effect of the roquinimex !
You could try to have more informations by contacting Dr Zylberbert (+33 (0)1 42 34 19 51), on of this protocole experimentators. (9705)

Q-A 3

Q (t) Congratulations for your very interesting site. Could you indicate me where to obtain shark cartilage and Roquinimex ?

Thank you for help.

Sincerely.

A (t) Concerning shark cartilage, you must know that several presentations exist on sale, wich don't contain the presumed efficient products in sufficient quantity, and are saled at extremely expensive prices.
You could contact concerning this subjects Mr Thierry Lerond (Nutrilys, 18 av. M. Anthonioz, 01220 Divonne les Bains, France ; Tel : +33 (0)4 50 20 40 22, Fax : +33 (0)4 50 20 77 76).
